Annual Report of the German Expert Council
May 2017
In its 2017 report, the German Expert Council on Integration and Migration of which Daniel Thym is a member presents an in-depth analysis of the ‘opportunities arising from the crisis’ for German and European refugee policies. Two core messages are that a conditional right to mobility within labour markets for recognised refugees may be a complementary tool in the reform of the EU asylum system and that Germany should activate its standard structures instead of special programmes for promoting refugee integration. There are many more thoughts and sources in the report for those interested in the general perspective and refugee law and policy. It is worth reading it (if you speak German)!
